PIEDRAS NEGRAS HISTORY

MEXICAN REVOLUTION

Porfirio Diaz city was chosen by Don Francisco I. Madero to initiate armed warfare under its control, November 20th 1910, movement that does not prosper due to the small amount of people that were managed to reunite, starting off from Ciudad Juárez city in where it finally fulfilled his assignment. With the triumphant revolution, Madero decides to return to Mexico by Porfirio Diaz City, June 1st 1911. With the fall of the Porfirian dictatorship, the Governor of the State, Mr. Venustiano Carranza, decreed that the city conserves the category of city, to be named Piedras Negras again, December 14th of that year, but that took effect until day 19. Fifth and definitive name of the city.

Piedras Negras were the Headquarters of the Constitutionalist Army, having as their leader the First Head, Don Venustiano Carranza, from April 19th to the July 15th 1913, having as host one of today’s historical building of the Border Customs. In the Round House or Arsenal the famous cannons were constructed that much helped the Constitutionalist cause.
