The Nachos has their origin in the city of Piedras Negras,
Coahuila in the year 1943 in the Victoria Club. History
tells that a day several spouses from some American military
arrived after the restaurant was closed, then Ignacio
Anaya, ingeniously prepared a snack with the little he
had available: tortillas and cheese. The tortillas cut
them in triangle form and it put them to fry adding Wisconsin
yellow cheese.
This
dish was very pleasing for the ladies, so they asked the
name for this snack, to which Anaya responded quickly:
Nachos Special; then Anaya soon added them to its menu
calling them Nachos Special. The name of Nacho comes from
the nickname of its creator Ignacio, from Acuña,
Coahuila. In 1995 Piedras Negras was officially declared
the cradle of the Nacho. Since then every October the
International Nacho Festival is celebrated in this city,
known also as the Nacho Fest.
